Ask, seek & Knock
Have you ever been so excited to drop in and see someone only to find them not home? What about the excitement of going to a restaurant only to be let down by the fact that they are closed on that day? Or lastly maybe you have texted a friend and got left "on read" for a lengthy time. In either one of these scenarios we each hope the door is open and the conversation is received. I was thinking this morning about how disappointed these moments can feel and then I was reminded about how our God is actually the opposite of this. In fact in Matthew 7:7-11 it says that our God will hear the knock and open the door.
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
We have a God who truly loves his children and wants us to bring our prayers and requests to Him. He wants to listen and desires to give his children good gifts. So are you feeling stressed with the load you have received in some of your classes? Ask him for help! Are you feeling lonely as a new student on the campus? Ask him for friends! Are you desiring to grow in your faith? Tell God what areas you want to grow in!
One of my favorite things about our God is that He is the God that cares about us and is with us. So let’s try a different approach this semester and cast our cares on Him, knock on the door and know that He will answer.
