faithful in the mess

We’re hitting that part of the semester when everything starts to pile up — papers, exams, group projects, work shifts, and the creeping realization that finals are right around the corner.

If you’re feeling tired, unmotivated, or wondering if your effort is even making a difference, you’re not alone.

Paul himself speaks about a weariness that sometimes hits us and his encouragement in Galatians 6:9 is exactly what we need to hear:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Paul doesn’t tell us not to feel tired. He just says, don’t quit doing good because it’s hard.

There’s a kind of faith that shows up even when the results don’t. When you keep showing kindness to a roommate who never returns it. When you study hard even if your grade doesn’t look like you hoped it would. When you show up to small group after a long day because you want to be present with God and your people. Those small choices matter — more than you think.

God sees what you’re doing, even the quiet things. And He promises a harvest — but notice the phrase “at the proper time.” That means it might not come on your schedule. God’s timing isn’t delayed; His timing is perfect. He’s shaping something deep in you as you stay faithful in the middle of the mess.

So this week, don’t give up. Don’t let weariness win. Get some rest, take a breath and keep doing the good God has placed in front of you — one step, one class, one prayer, one act of love at a time.

Reflection questions:

Where have you felt like giving up lately?

What’s one small “good” thing you can choose to keep doing this week?

What's something unimportant you can let go of to make space for more important things?
